This practical, hands-on course is designed to build confidence and improve real-world towing skills for recreational drivers. Learn how to:
Understand recreational towing safety requirements and road rules
Carry out effective pre-trip and post-trip checks
Match your vehicle to your caravan or recreational setup
Understand weights, limits, and load distribution
Select and use appropriate towing hitches and accessories
Improve driving, handling, and braking when towing
Confidently turn, reverse, and park using mirrors and guides
Reversing doesn’t have to be stressful — with the right approach, it becomes calm, controlled, and predictable.
Application of the Course
This course focuses on the practical skills needed for safe and enjoyable recreational towing, including:
Preparing your vehicle and caravan or recreational setup before travel
Driving safely in real-world conditions such as highways, towns, and tight spaces
Manoeuvring and parking at caravan parks, campgrounds, and event grounds
Safely unhitching and securing your setup at your destination
Completing post-trip checks to ensure everything is ready for the next journey
Participants will develop sound judgement and decision-making skills, allowing them to tow with confidence while prioritising safety, comfort, and peace of mind on the road.
